The Creek Group of Restaurants10.20.16
Houston has a vibrant restaurant and bar scene. An enduring part of the city’s casual sports bar and eatery options is brought to you by the Creek Group—Onion Creek, Canyon Creek, Cedar Creek, and Lowbrow. We have written before about Houston’s eclectic and high-quality restaurant scene. The Creek Group restaurants are long-time favorites of the locals. Located in the center of action of the Heights on White Oak Drive near the corner of Fraiser St, Onion Creek Coffee House, Bar and Lounge is a great, laid-back spot featuring a large patio. Grab a burger with a local brew and hang out with friends and your furry friend (it is a dog-friendly establishment, just its sister locations). Although Onion Creek is typically busiest during evening hours, do not underestimate its brunch food and drink options. The breakfast bowl with cubed potatoes, queso, a fried egg, and sour cream (additional sausage, bacon or brisket available upon request) and frozen mimosas are especially popular among customers. The restaurant is self-serve style—order from the bar, grab utensils and condiments. Friendly staff will bring your meal out to your table. Onion Creek is open from 7 am until 2 am.
A similar concept prevails at Cedar Creek, deeper into the Heights at 20th Street and Beal Street. Open from 11 am until 2 am, this neighborhood establishment is also busiest during evening hours. But when the weekend comes, Cedar Creek is typically packed all day. This casual bar also features plenty of outdoor seating. You’ll typically hear a combination of rock and popular tracks on the speakers, and on certain nights you can also catch live music. Burgers, wings, and nachos are standard fare and delicious. A healthy selection of beers on tap, in a bottle, or can keep thirsty customers satisfied.
Canyon Creek, located in the Washington Avenue Corridor on Westcott Street has the same inviting atmosphere as Onion and Cedar Creek, with plenty of space for indoor and outdoor seating. A large number of TV screens make it a great venue for sports enthusiasts. For many neighborhood locals, Canyon Creek is a go-to location for food, drinks, and hanging out with a group of friends.
New to the group of locations from the Creek Group, Lowbrow Bar is a Montrose-area eatery with an excellent selection of Scotch and Mezcal. Expect good vibes, tasty food, strong and delicious drinks, and people having fun.
At all of the Creek Group locations, you can typically expect a great experience that will bring you back again and again. The laid-back environment is inviting.
